Applications for the REU Site: Early Engagement in Semiconductor Materials and Technologies will be accepted any time between December 15th, 2025 – February 13th, 2026 through the National Science Foundation’s ETAP portal: https://etap.nsf.gov/award/7510/opportunity/10149.
Eligibility:
*Participants in NSF REU programs must be US Citizens, US nationals, or US permanent residents.
- The program is aimed at students from any US undergraduate degree-granting institutions who are pursuing a STEM-discipline degree and who have completed their freshman year. The program prioritizes students who are in their first or second years of study.
- Students from underrepresented racial and ethnic minorities, or other minority groups in STEM fields, are highly encouraged to apply.
- No prior research experience is required or expected.
- Students must be in good academic standing at their institution to be eligible.
Application Materials:
- 1) transcript or proof of good academic standing;
- 2) CV with the following:
- Institution/degree/planned grad year;
- High school attended (and location/date of graduation);
- Any hobbies/activities (in school or extracurricular) relevant to leadership, communication, and/or organizational skills;
- Paid or volunteer positions, beginning with the most recent.
- 3) Reference letter (attesting to your leadership, communication, and/or readiness)
- 4) Your top three choices for research topic (Please explore the options under “Research Projects” by clicking the upper right link)
Interview and Selection Process
Brief Zoom interviews will be scheduled in Late February with potential candidates. Offer letters will be sent out via email on a rolling basis by March 15, and acceptance decisions will be expected by mid-April.
